My setup has changed a lot. I've had three solid years to get new devices and refine my technique. I haven't ditched Windows Phone yet, but I've put some insurance policies in place in case Microsoft can't get its act together. I've rid myself of extra gaming equipment and change the what I carry. As such, I thought the piece needed revisiting.
As I looked out of my giant office windows this afternoon, I noticed the leaves have already begun to fall. It’s time to start making plans for the fall. I provided a brief look at what PC and Xbox games I’m planning to play this fall in this month’s Ask The en. I want to deep dive into it a bit more here though, you know, in the interest in oversharing and all that.
In this edition of Ask The en I take your questions on my holiday gaming plans and Microsoft’s ReCore. We’ve also got more questions about the Xbox One S. That’s the console upgrade that Microsoft introduced in August and we reviewed shortly after.
“When some hot piece of new technology arrives, everyone is quick to either sing its praises or tear it down. That’s the nature of technology and culture. If we aren’t collectively enhancing its mythos, we’re collective pointing out its flaws. Sometimes we do both at the same time. By the time we get a device like the Surface Pro 4, it’s usually the praise that dominates the landscape.
The Surface Pro 4 isn’t a big departure from that device, at least in many of the ways that matter. That’s led to a lot of people singing its praises.
Frankly, I understand all the praise from reviewers; the Surface Pro created a new form factor that no one considered viable before it came along. Anyone describing these devices as “perfect” is out of their mind, though. There are improvements galore. There are compromises too – some of them so severe that I can’t understand how someone begins to describe this device as the best there is.”

“I can’t say that Mozart in the Jungle necessarily hits the mark on all fronts; I’ve never been a musician. I can say that, after watching the show, I feel like I know a bit more about the battles that musicians fight everyday. In some ways, their battles are our own. We all feel like frauds and pretenders, like we’re unappreciated and undervalued.”

If most superhero movies are a firecracker, Daredevil is a sparkler. You’re filled with anticipation from the moment you light it. It shines brightly in your hand the entire time. You have time to appreciate how the light reflects on the pavement below. You notice how the sparks dance in mid-air. When it does go out — as all things must do — you realize what you saw was something you can judge in its entirety. There’s a journey and a destination that you can appreciate.
